Tasty Desserts from Around the World
HUNGARY
Somloi Galuska is a trifle made in Hungary with three different kinds of sponge cake (chocolate, vanilla and ground walnut), vanilla pastry cream, raisins, and walnuts, and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It is served in scoops on plates.
BELGIUM
Dame blanche is the name used in Belgium and the Netherlands for a sweet dessert consisting of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, and warm molten chocolate.
NETHERLANDS
Poffertjes are sweet treats from the Netherland, served with powdered sugar and butter, and sometimes syrup or advocaat. However, there is also a savoury variant with gouda cheese.
NETHERLANDS
Oliebollen is a traditional Dutch food. They are called oliebollen (literally: oil spheres) in the Netherlands, while in Belgium they are also called smoutebollen (literally: lard balls although the real "smout" is of rapeseed oil) and croustillons (loosely: crispies) in French. In English they are more commonly known as Dutch Doughnuts or Dutchies.
SAUDI ARABIA
Sweet, rich, crunchy and creamy, Kunafeh or Knafeh can be found in regions that used to be occupied by the Ottoman Empire. This sweet pastry is the Middle Eastern version of the cheese cake.
Kunafeh is made of semolina dough and thin noodle-like phyllo pastry. It is stuffed with a white soft cheese such as Nabulsi cheese. Kunafeh is crunchy on the outside and is soaked in simple sweet syrup. Recently, the Middle East has seen variations of this dish with the addition of Mangoes.
SPAIN
Crema Catalana is an amazing desert from Spain. Europe’s lesser-known custard dessert, is one of our favorites in all of Spain. Traveling around Europe, you might find that many countries claim to have invented the same thing. It’s always an age-old dispute that, despite having some evidence favoring one country over the other, still remains a hot topic of conversation. Crema catalana for example, the delicious Catalan custard dessert, and its French counterpart, creme brûlée. To this day, people still debate about who came up with it first!
JAPAN
Coffee Jelly is a simple dessert of jelly make with black coffee that's often topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. It's the type of dessert you'll find at a old cafe or restaurant in Tokyo.
SOUTH KOREAN
Omlet Bbang (Korean dessert sandwich) Omelet bbang is one of the most popluar desserts in Korea now. The omelet bpang is a small sandwich stuffed with whipped cream and fruit. The bread is very soft and fluffy; it tastes like roll cake. It's very simple to make.

Churros A churro is a fried-dough pastry—predominantly choux—based snack. Churros are traditional in Spain and Portugal - from where they originate - as well as the Philippines and Ibero-America.
UNITED STATES - TEXAS
Banana Pudding is a dessert generally consisting of layers of sweet vanilla flavored custard, cookies and sliced fresh bananas placed in a dish and served, topped with whipped cream or meringue.
